Dark Mode is Not a Feature, It's a Requirement

TL;DR: In 2026, forcing a user to stare at a bright white screen at night is bad UX. Why we design Dark Mode by default.

The Battery Life Factor

OLED screens (which most modern phones use) save significant battery power when displaying black pixels. In Ethiopia, where power can be an issue and people are out all day, saving your user's battery is a sign of respect.

The "Premium" Feel

Psychologically, Dark Mode interfaces are perceived as more "Modern," "Tech-Forward," and "Premium" (Think: Netflix, Spotify, Crypto apps).

White interfaces are increasingly associated with "Paperwork," "Bureaucracy," and "Old School."

How We Build It

We don't just invert colors (which looks ugly). We design a specific Dark Palette.

We use "Off-Black" (#121212) instead of pure black to reduce eye strain.
We desaturate accent colors so they don't vibrate against the dark background.
